CNA Admissions
The CNA admission process is designed to help students complete every required clinical clearance item before the course begins. Review each step carefully and start early.
How to Sign Up
- Apply to Gavilan College.
- Sign up for the mandatory CNA orientation when it is posted.
- Attend the mandatory orientation.
- Complete and submit all required documents discussed during orientation before the first day of instruction.
Required Items Before Clinical Participation
- Required Live Scan / fingerprinting documentation
- Health clearance form and required clinical paperwork
- TB clearance, immunization documentation, and other required health records
- Negative drug screen and any required compliance tracking steps
- Current American Heart Association BLS Provider course
- Uniform, shoes, watch with second hand, and black or royal blue stethoscope
Attendance and Course Expectations
No absences or tardies are allowed. State certification requires 100% attendance.
Clinical placements are assigned at approved facilities. Students are responsible for their own transportation and childcare arrangements.
Budget Planning
Students should budget for tuition and college fees, books and workbook materials, health clearance and immunizations, uniform and accessories, certification examination costs, drug screening/compliance costs, and Live Scan.
