Registered Nursing (RN) - Overview
Gavilan College Nursing offers a Registered Nursing program that prepares students for professional nursing practice through classroom instruction, skills lab, simulation, and clinical learning across diverse healthcare settings. The nursing sequence is designed as a four-semester program after completion of prerequisite coursework. Lecture and skills lab are typically scheduled Monday through Friday, and clinical rotations may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends depending on site availability.
The Nursing Department at Gavilan College offers a Registered Nursing program leading to the Associate in Science degree. Students may enter through the traditional first-semester option or, if eligible, through advanced placement.
After successful completion of program and graduation requirements, graduates may apply for licensure and the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
Completion of the program does not guarantee licensure or employment.
