Parking Information
Welcome to the Spring semester 2025!
STUDENT PARKING PERMITS:
No parking permits are required for student spaces at this time. Only employees are allowed to park in designated staff parking spots.
STAFF/FACULTY PARKING PERMITS:
Staff/Faculty may park in any parking lot with a valid Staff/Faculty permit. Go to The Gavilan Permit Store site for parking permits. It is the responsibility of the driver to properly park the vehicle and to properly display a valid permit. All permits must be displayed on the front windshield and the entire permit, including the barcode, must be visible from the outside of the vehicle. Vehicles with car covers are no exception.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) CHARGING SPACES:
Due to limited availability, EV charging stations are by permit only and available only to students and staff. Staff parking permits are EV charging permits, so staff need only the staff permit. Students may obtain an EV charging permit from the security office anytime M-F from 7am to 9pm. Bring your G# and proof of enrollment (Student ID, Class schedule, etc.).

Parking lots are opened for permit parking from 7am to 10pm.
The campus gates are closed and locked nightly at 10pm. Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays are subject to change, depending on campus activity, the gates may be closed earlier. The campus is closed on all major holidays.
Any unauthorized vehicle remaining on campus after the gates close will be locked in and cited for unauthorized overnight parking.
Contact the Gavilan College Security Department as soon as possible if you will need to leave your vehicle parked overnight
Important Rules and Laws:
Do not leave children unattended in a vehicle.
Do not leave pets or animals unattended in a vehicle.
Observe restricted parking—Staff parking, EV permit parking, time restrictions, and more. Some sections of the parking lots are time restricted or require a specific parking permit. These sections are clearly marked with the restriction type. Parking citations will be issued for violations of parking restrictions.
All traffic laws and California vehicle codes apply on campus and will be enforced.
Parking permits may be revoked, and students may be subject to Code of Conduct sanctions for willful reckless driving, including: exhibition of speed, speed contests, “drifting,” “donuts,” or “burnouts” etc.
Gavilan College reserves the right to have any vehicle towed away at the owner’s expense for the following:
- Repeated parking violations despite previous citations and warnings
- Vehicles parked in a dangerous manner blocking emergency access
- Unauthorized vehicles parked in the campus core
- Vehicles deemed abandoned (parked for several consecutive days without authorization)
Law Enforcement Jurisdiction:
For Crimes:
Main Campus: The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.
Hollister: The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has jurisdiction for vehicle collisions on all campuses.
If your vehicle is vandalized or burglarized contact the Gavilan College Security Department first, and then the crime will be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
If you are involved in a vehicle collision or a hit and run, contact the Gavilan College Security Department first, and then the incident will be reported to the CHP.
