Mandatory Orientation Requirement for Accepted and Alternate Applicants
All accepted and alternate applicants are required to attend the Mandatory Orientation on Monday, August 3, from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Important program requirements, deadlines, and next steps in the enrollment process will be reviewed. Attendance is mandatory to maintain eligibility for admission and placement in the program.

- Note: Incomplete applications will not be considered
Steps to Apply to the Gavilan College ADN-RN Program
- Meet with a nursing counselor or general counselor
- Attend an ADN-RN Application Workshop (encouraged) — please visit our website for dates and times
- Complete and upload all required documents, then submit your ADN-RN application through NursingCAS
- Order all official transcripts through NursingCAS
(High school transcripts are required only if you do not have a college degree)

- Navigate to the “Academic History” section
- Follow the prompts to request your official transcripts
Foreign Transcript Evaluation
Foreign high school and college/university transcripts must be evaluated by:

Required Documents to Upload to NursingCAS
In addition to your application, please upload the following:
Multi-Criteria Supporting Documents in the designated NursingCAS docuement section
ADN Multi-Criteria Point SystemAcademic Degrees, Diplomas, Licenses, and Certificates
- Provide copies of any degrees, diplomas, current licenses, and/or certificates
- Advanced Placement applicants must submit a copy of their license from the Breeze website
Proficiency or Advanced Coursework in a Language Other Than English
- Completion of two (2) semesters of the same foreign language at a U.S. regionally accredited college or university (must be verified on Program Notes)
- Language spoken at home (verification may be requested)
- Seal of Biliteracy (attach a copy with application)
Life Experiences or Special Circumstances
- Select one (1) area only from the criteria # 7 of the Multi-Criteria Point System
- Provide required documentation as specified on the Multi-Criteria form
Military Service
- Active Duty, Reserve, Veteran, or National Guard (in good standing)
- Submit DD214 or equivalent official documentation
Work or Volunteer Experience in Healthcare
- Minimum of 100 hours within the last 3 years
- Submit either the Work/and or Volunteer Experience Form
- Signed by a supervisor, manager, or Human Resources representative
- Include contact information
- Clearly state total hours and dates of experience
- If submitting a letter on company letterhead, attach it to the appropriate form
- If using this for Life Experience/Special Circumstances points, check the box at the top of the form and attach unofficial transcripts with relevant coursework highlighted
Application Policy
- Only one (1) application submission per student, per program, per application period will be accepted
- Any additional submissions within the same application period will not be considered

All required documents must be submitted at the time of application.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Selection Process
Admission to the Nursing Program is competitive and based on a multicriteria point system designed to ensure fairness, objectivity, and student success.
Selection Method
- The Multi-Criteria Point System is used to determine the total number of points earned
- 80% of available seats are filled by ranking applicants in descending order based on total multicriteria points
- 20% of available seats are selected through a random draw among qualified applicants who achieve a minimum score of 75 points or higher

Important Notes
- All costs are the responsibility of the student and are subject to change
- Due to the intensive nature of the ADN program, students may need to limit employment hours
- Scholarships and grants may be available through the Gavilan Financial Aid Office or Gavilan College Foundation
Health Examination & CPR Certification
Admission to the program is contingent upon submission of the following:
Note: These requirements are not required at the time of application but must be completed and submitted prior to enrollment in the program.
- A valid American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR card (valid for two years)
- A completed health examination form verifying clearance for unrestricted functional activities required for nursing practice, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990)

Additional Information
- There is no waitlist. Applicants are either accepted or not selected for that admission cycle
- Applicants who are not selected are encouraged to reapply in a future application period
- Final admission is contingent upon verification of all eligibility requirements and completion of required clinical compliance documentation
Notification of Acceptance to Gavilan College Nursing Program
Notification
All applicants will be notified by email, using the address(es) provided on their application, approximately 6–8 weeks after the application period ends.
Applicants not selected for the nursing program may reapply during the next application filing period. No waitlist is maintained.
Acceptance
Applicants selected for the program who confirm their acceptance by email will receive an Acceptance Packet outlining next steps and the onboarding process.
Students who are unable to meet required immunization and background clearance deadlines will be dropped from the program.
We are unable to accommodate requests to review applications for completion.
