Steps to Apply for Dual Enrollment

NEW Students ONLY: Complete and submit the online admissions application using CCCapply. “Start a New Application” to Gavilan College – Fall/Summer/Winter/Spring Term
Note: Wait 72 hours for your application to be processed and you will receive a automated Welcome Letter with your Gav ID # via email.
If you do not receive an automated email within 72 hours, please contact the Admissions & Records office or connect to our virtual welcome center with your full name, DOB, and GAV Confirmation #

RETURNING Students: If you did not attend Gavilan in the last two semesters (not including Summer), you are considered inactive and must reapply as a new student by logging into your OpenCCC Account and submitting a new application for the term you wish to enroll in.
Dual Enrollment Form - complete form working with your high school & parent/guardian(s).
NEW Students ONLY: Requires signature of parent/guardian, counselor, and principal on the high school contract form. The completed form must be emailed to dualenrollmentform@gavilan.edu for processing before registration can take place.
RETURNING Students: Only requires a student signature on the high school contract form, it does NOT have to be signed by a parent or high school counselor. The completed form must be emailed to dualenrollmentform@gavilan.edu for processing before registration can take place.
Notes:
- If "home schooled", must provide verification that the school is registered with the school district in which it operates or an R-4 affidavit.
- Students who qualify for and wish to enroll in special education services should contact the office for Accessibility Education Center (AEC).
- Highly recommended that you continue to meet with a counselor to stay on track.

Certain courses require verification that you’ve completed the necessary prerequisites prior to enrollment. If your course has prerequisites, you’ll need to email the college transitions counselor Fernanda Renteria ( frenteria@gavilan.edu ) your completed Dual Enrollment Form and one of the following documents:
- A transcript (official or unofficial) showing a grade of “C” or better in the prerequisite course(s)
- AP Test Score from the College Board showing a score of 3 or higher.
CCAP Students will be enrolled by the Dual Enrollment Team.
Concurrent (individual) Students will register for your classes via their Self-Service Account.
- After your Dual Enrollment Form is processed and any prerequisites are cleared by a Gavilan counselor, you will be able to register on or after your Priority Registration Date (you can find your registration date on your Self-Service account under student checklist)
You will use your Gav ID# and password for the following:
- Gavilan Self-Service (Student Portal: allows you to register/drop classes, check grades, request transcripts, etc.)
- iLearn (Canvas Classroom Portal: allows you to access your class, complete homework, tests, etc.)

- If you are trying to add a course after the class has already started, you will need to receive an Add Authorization by the instructor before you can self-enroll into the course. * Admission is subject to seat availability.
How to Sign-Up Video Get Your Gavilan ID Video
- Get your Class Schedule ready. Make sure you know what time your classes start and the location of each course. Check your email for any important information from your instructor.
- Log onto Canvas. You should see the course(s) you signed up for on your Canvas dashboard by the first day of class.
- Plan to arrive on time! The first day of classes can be crowded, so leave earlier than expected if you are coming to campus.
- Assess the parking situation. If driving to campus, take a look at the campus map to get familiar with Gavilan College!
