2024-2025 Board of Trustees Goals & Outcomes
The Gavilan Board of Trustees is adopting the following goals, thereby committing itself to promoting a culture of continuous improvement by:
- regularly reviewing goal-specific data to inform its decisions;
- working collaboratively to support administration, faculty, staff, and students as they complete the work outlined in the Strategic Plan and Vision for Success consistent with the Principles of Community: Diversity, Inclusiveness, Purposefulness and Equity;
- and fully supporting the implementation of Guided Pathways as the primary strategy to increase student success
Goal# 1 Support College Capacity to Achieve Equitable Student Success (Accreditation Standard 4.4)
Actions:
1.1 The Board will monitor key student success indicators.1.2 The Board will support innovation in instruction, student support, and technology.
1.3 The Board will support strategies and programs equitizing opportunity for historically marginalized student groups.
Measurable Outcomes:
1.2 The Board receives, reviews, and considers timely information on innovation in instruction, student support, and technology.
1.3 The Board in coordination with college leadership establishes policies and resources to remove barriers that impact historically minoritized student groups.
Goal #2 Elevate Board Effectiveness and Collegiality (Accreditation Standard 4.6)
Actions:
2.1 The Board will increase board effectiveness through professional development.2.2 The Board will review and revise Board policies to maximize effective operations.
2.3 The Board will develop a unified and consistent set of messages that Trustees can deliver to the community.
Measurable Outcomes:
2.1 The Board establishes an annual calendar of professional development and schedules opportunities to share outcomes in workshops or board meetings.
2.2 The Board works with the Superintendent/President to schedule regular review of board policies and procedures.
2.3 Board members communicate a unified and consistent set of messages to the community.
Goal #3 Provide stewardship for human, physical and fiscal resources of the district. (Accreditation Standard 4.4, 4.5)
Actions:
3.1 The Board will support strategies that ensure the long-term fiscal health of the district.3.2 The Board will support and monitor the implementation of Measure X.
3.3 The Board will support an intentional focus on safety and security on campus.
Measurable Outcomes:
3.1 The Board reviews the college’s financial reports and provides feedback to assure fiscal accountability.
3.2 The Board monitors the implementation of Measure X and assesses the need for additional physical resources and improvements to deliver high quality, relevant and equitable programs and services.
3.3 The Board supports an intentional focus on safety reports and provides feedback to college leadership regarding recommended actions.
Goal #4 Continue to build strong relationships that ensure the success of the Superintendent/President, the Board, and the District. (Accreditation Standard 4.5)
Actions:
4.1 The Board will support the Superintendent/President’s success in leading the District.
Measurable Outcomes:
4.1 The Board creates opportunities for regular communication and feedback with the Superintendent/President, collectively and individually.
4.2 The Board conducts annual evaluations of the Superintendent/President and provides feedback and opportunities for professional growth.
