On-Campus Working Opportunities
- Working on campus is a great way to earn money, build experience, and stay connected to Gavilan College.
- The Welcome Center and the Writing & Tutoring Center accept student applications year round. If you are not selected for an interview during the cycle you apply, you may be contacted for consideration in a future hiring cycle. For specific questions, students are encouraged to contact each department directly.
- On occasion some departments may have student worker positions to fill.
- Job postings provide position responsibilities, instructions on how to apply and who to contact.
- Applicants who are selected will be invited to interview.
- Before submitting your application, be sure to review and tailor your resume and cover letter to the position.

To submit a job opportunity for student recruitment, please email your job description or recruitment flyer to careertransfer@gavilan.edu for review.
Once approved, the position will be shared through Gavilan College’s student employment portal and posted on campus bulletin boards.
To ensure your posting is complete and accessible to students, please include the following information:
- Hourly wage or salary
- Job location, including city and ZIP code
- Clear application instructions, including where and how students should apply
- Employer contact information for questions or follow-up
- For part-time positions, the expected weekly hours or schedule

O*NET Online A great resource which analyzes employment trends by state and region and provides information about education, salary and typical duties associated with thousands of occupations.
Updated military occupations included in O*NET Websites
The Military Occupational Classification (MOC) crosswalk has been updated by the Department of Defense (April 2018) and incorporated into O*NET OnLine and My Next Move for Veterans. By supplementing this crosswalk with additional sources of data, both sites offer over 36,500 linkages between nearly 13,000 distinct MOC occupations and related O*NET-SOC occupations.
