Prerequisites, corequisites, and advisories are listed in the College Catalog.
Some classes at Gavilan have prerequisites, which are courses that must be successfully completed with a 'C' or better before you are eligible to enroll in the next level course or a course for which this prerequisite prepares you. For clarification of all Requisite terms, see the definitions section.
If you did not complete the prerequisite at Gavilan, you will need to show that you have satisfied the requirement based on your academic history and transcripts. See the How to verify prerequisites page for details.
Prerequisites are cleared by prior articulated coursework completed at an accredited college or university, or one in which the student is currently enrolled at Gavilan College.
How do I submit a prerequisite clearance request?
You may submit your Prerequisite Verification Form.pdf and supporting documents.
- E-mail the Prerequisite Clearance Request form and your unofficial transcript (if you plan to attend Gavilan for only one semester) to prereqs@gavilan.edu. Be sure to include: Your Gavilan student G-Number and the class you want to take.
After submitting a completed form with all supporting documents, you will be notified via phone or email to your my.gavilan.edu address within 3 working days. Email prereqs@gavilan.edu for any questions.
