Connect one-on-one with a STEM professional through the California MESA Mentorship Program. Mentors can provide career insight, professional guidance, networking support, and a closer look at STEM workplace culture. Mentor pairs typically meet monthly over a six-month to one-year period.

MESA receives and shares STEM-related scholarship information throughout the year. Contact the program when you need help identifying or preparing for an opportunity.

Create a basic application toolkit now so you can move quickly when a good opportunity appears.
Before spending time on an application, confirm the major, enrollment, GPA, citizenship or residency, location, and other requirements listed by the organization.
Add coursework, projects, employment, volunteer work, leadership, technical skills, clubs, conferences, research, and other relevant experiences.
Know where to access your unofficial transcript, educational plan, course history, GPA, and transfer information when an application requests them.
If a letter of recommendation is required, ask early and provide the recommender with the opportunity description, deadline, résumé, and any submission instructions.
Connect your STEM goals, experiences, challenges, interests, and future plans directly to the opportunity instead of sending the same response everywhere.
Online systems, transcripts, recommendation letters, and uploads can take longer than expected. Build in extra time.
