Athletic Director Leadership Transition & Operational Structure
Dear Campus Community,
I am writing to share an important leadership transition within our Athletics Department. Our Athletic Director, Jamie Adams, will be leaving Gavilan College to take on a new role at Pasadena City College.
On behalf of the entire college, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Jamie for her leadership and dedication. Under her direction, our athletics program expanded with the addition of both Men’s and Women’s Soccer, and our student-athletes achieved noticeable gains in academic completion and transfer rates. Please join me in thanking Jamie for her lasting contributions and wishing her all the best in her new position.
Interim Operational & Departmental Leadership
To ensure smooth operations, program continuity, and full support for our coaches, faculty, and student-athletes, we have established the following oversight structure:
Overall Athletics Oversight & 3C2A Compliance: Supervisor of Football Operations and Student Success, Joffre Longoria, will lead athletic operations and serve as the primary point of contact for conference and California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) matters. His responsibilities include overall program oversight, 3C2A eligibility and compliance, and coach and team support.
Academic & Kinesiology Leadership: Our Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Moaty Fayek, will oversee the academic operations supporting Kinesiology. He will work directly with Department Chairs Nikki Dequin and Darlene Del Carmen, managing course scheduling, faculty assignments, evaluations, tenure committees, curriculum development, and instructional needs.
Joffre, Darlene, and Nikki will work closely together on all operational areas where athletic management and academic instruction overlap.
