Hispanic Heritage Month
Dear community,
I am writing to you today in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This month, we honor the contributions of Latinos in Santa Clara and San Benito County, as well as the college's role as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).
The Latino community is a vibrant and diverse part of our region. We are proud to have a large and growing Latino student population at our college. Latinos make up over 60% of our student body, and they come from all over the world. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge, skills, and experiences that enrich our campus community.
As an HSI, we are committed to supporting Latino students thrive and have upward mobility for themselves and their families.
We are also committed to building a more inclusive and welcoming campus for all students. We are creating more opportunities for Latino students to get involved in campus life and employees to strengthen their sense of belonging on campus.
I am proud of the work that we are doing to support Latino students at our college. I know that together, we can create a more just and equitable future for all.
Thank you for all that you do to make our college a welcoming and supportive place for all students.
I invite you to attend these college hosted FREE events in celebration of Latino Heritage month taking place at the Gilroy campus, and open to your families and community. Keep an eye on social media for more details for the October events.
