YMCA of San Benito County
MISSION: We know that lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. That's why at the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
ACTIVITIES: The YMCA is the biggest childcare provider for San Benito County, serving more than 400 children daily after school. ASES, a state-funded after school program, occupies three sites; Sunnyslope, Gabilan Hills and San Juan School. The YMCA also runs eight other enrichment sites after school for children at various schools.
NEEDS THIS SEMESTER: Two after-school programs are in need of Gavilan Students. Healthy Mind Time will be the first 45 minutes each day, or more. Then Gavilan students can help with various activities including but not limited to STEAM program, Youth Fit for Life, a childhood obesity program to prevent cancer and youth diabetes with behavior, nutrition, cardio and stretching and literacy.

- MTWF 3-6 p.m., Thursdays 12:30-6 p.m.
- Alexandra Rodriguez, Supervisor
- MTWF 2:30 to 6 p.m. Thursdays 12:30 to 6 p.m.

*If you cannot work weekday hours, a Saturday program may be available for service. Please speak with Senior Program Director, Crystal Canchola. Also, students can switch around days and times or commit to a single time at the same site, pending site supervisor approval.
APPLY HERE If: you like working with children, you want to work with an inclusive organization. Spanish skills helpful; students should wear jeans, plain colored shirts and must wear closed-toed shoes for
safety. Teacher referral required.
DON'T APPLY HERE IF: If you have a felony conviction; misdemeanors will be considered on a case by case basis. It is advised to speak with the program director about a misdemeanor prior to completing a background check—they will be able to tell you if they misdemeanor will prevent you from participating at the YMCA. No TB test required.
ORIENTATION: It is mandatory to attend one orientation. There are two dates listed below, put please sign up to attend one. Students who know ahead of time that they cannot make one of the schedule orientation dates should contact Mrs. Canchola and see if an alternative can be arranged.

Please don't waste their time by setting up meetings you don't attend, come late to, or be absent without very good reason that you communicate in advance.
