Interlibrary Loan Service at Gavilan College Library

What Is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service available to Gavilan College students, faculty, and staff that allows you to request books and copies of articles that are not available in the Gavilan College Library. The library will borrow the item or obtain a copy from another library on your behalf.

Please allow 1–2 weeks for your request to arrive. Some requests may take longer, depending on the availability of the item and the lending library. Please plan accordingly.

How to Request an Item

  1. Complete the ILL request form: Gavilan College Internal ILL Request Form

  2. Provide the item’s citation information. You will need the publication details for each book or article you wish to request.

    • For articles: Bring a printout of the citation from EBSCOhost or another database where you found the article.

    • For books: Provide the book’s publication information, including the title, author, publisher, and publication year, if available.

  3. Have your library card number ready. You may also visit the Reference Desk to obtain assistance with your request.

Request limit: Please limit your ILL requests to five items at a time.

For assistance, visit the Reference Desk and speak with a librarian.
