Department of Cosmetology

The Cosmetology Discipline offers instruction to both men and women in all phases of cosmetology. The Scientific Skin Care (Esthetics) certificate program offers a comprehensive skin care program. Both fulfill the requirements set forth by the California State Barbering and Cosmetology Program and are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Graduates are prepared to take the Barbering and Cosmetology Program license examination and for competency in employment.

The Cosmetology Department offers a variety of services to the public at very reasonable prices. All work is performed by students under the supervision of instructors. To make an appointment for services, call 408-842-5055.

We are a highly respected school, and we provide a great variety of extra activities. Our students are known and appreciated for their regular involvement in community events, such as Project Homeless.

Our well-trained, certified instructional staff teaches both theory and practical application in cosmetology and skin care. Our instructors keep abreast of current trends.

Employment Opportunites

After completion of the course at Gavilan College our students are ready to work in the cosmetology field as hairstylists, estheticians, salespersons, technicians, educators, managers, platform artists or any one of many prestigious careers.
