Gavilan College is Helping Families in Need with a Drive Thru Food Pantry
by on Apr 2, 2020UPDATE, Friday April 3:
The April 7, 2020 Food Distribution received an overwhelming response and we have reached capacity; as a result registration is closed. Those who registered will receive an email directly from Annette Gutierrez today, April 3rd with their pick up time. If you registered and do not receive an email by end of the day today, please email agutierrez@gavilan.edu as some emails have been returned.
Gavilan College is looking into offering this type of service again in the near future as we understand the need during this time. To learn about other food resources in Gilroy, please call the Food Connection number at 1 800-984-3663 or visit www.gavilan.edu/resources
Who & What: Gavilan College in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank will be setting up a drive thru grocery pick up for anyone in need. In an effort to serve as many families as possible, Gavilan would like only one person per household to register before arriving to campus. Each vehicle will receive three medium boxes of food. Participants will be asked to stay in their vehicles, show they registered online with their cell phone or a printed copy, and then they will be allowed to get in line. Volunteers will place the boxes in each person’s trunk, so there will be no physical contact.
Where: Gavilan College Main Campus at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy, 95020
Participants don’t need to be enrolled in Gavilan College to register. Leave the G-Number line blank. Please remember to make enough room in your trunk to hold three medium boxes.
