Linda Bernabe Interview

Linda Bernabé was born in 1984 in El Sol, a suburb of San Salvador, during the country’s 12-year Civil War CCQQ. She briefly attended the American School in San Salvador to learn English, but the war disrupted her family’s stability and prospects. She continued in public school until her mother immigrated with her to Morgan Hill when she was in junior high. Bernabé learned English and rose to the top of her classes at Live Oak High School. She came to Gavilan College and had outstanding experiences with English department faculty and at the Writing Center. With this support, she transferred to UC Berkeley to study social linguistics, and pursued a masters in business. She now oversees the Morgan Hill Center at Gavilan College.
