UPDATES
Gavilan College Webpages: It was suggested that all Gavilan webpages be updated with the web address and the date it was modified. Peter, our webmaster, is currently working on this issue. It was suggested that Peter send out an email to all faculty or staff members who have upload capabilities stating that they need to modify their current pages.
Windows XP/Office XP: The question was raised whether we should all upgrade to Windows XP and Office XP since most of the student labs will be converted for the Fall semester. The discussion followed with hardware requirements necessary for Windows XP and Office XP. Some of the computers stations in the Library and some staff stations are really old and may not be able to be upgraded.
Misc: Jen asked whether we have streaming media capabilities. She would like to create Camtasia videos on teaching Library skills and post them on the Internet for her students. Mimi said that it may be doable on our campus but not over the Internet as yet. She will check on the possibilities. The question was raised regarding the size of the video file. Mimi will check on the size limit.
Jen would like to teach the faculty and staff on how to search the Library databases. It was suggested that she do it during a Staff Development day training or possibly set it up with the Staff Resource Center as one of the training modules so staff can receive flex or co-curricular credit.
The question was raised about when we will be switching over from WebCT to Etudes. The process may be easier since JoAnne encouraged faculty to keep their files on the Gavilan server. Jen stated that we have to be ready for the switch during the summer online classes. She will be teaching 2 classes on May 1 and May 15.
