ANNOUNCEMENT: CMAP will have an Open House on Wednesday, June 5, 2pm - 6pm.

Committee Chairship: Chairperson-The latest proposal is that Jane Egberg will be the chairperson with 20% release time. There may be a backup plan since Tim will be leaving as of August, 2002. Several ideas have been proposed but no decisions have been made. One position that needs to be filled when Tim is gone is the CMAP liaison-Bob Beede volunteered to do it.

TECH ED Call for Proposal: The next Tech Ed Conference is March 24-26, 2003. If you are interested in submitting a proposal, call 916-418-5100 or visit www.TechEdEvents.org.

TECH PLAN: Tim is working with a consultant from Butte College to complete the Tech Plan. He would like to convene the Task Advisory Group to review the final draft around June 15, 2002. He will let us know via email since most of us will be on summer vacation.

Stanford Computer Lab Design: Marlene Bumgarner gave Fran an example to share of an interesting way of putting a computer lab together. She explained Stanford's Green Library Tech Center. The tables were on wheels; there were no restrictions; they raised the floor to put the wires underneath; they used laptop computers; and she said that wireless will work also.

Digital Media Report: Bob Beede reported on the status of the Digital Media Program. They are still exploring space issues but for the Fall semester they will be sharing Bob Peacock's lab and will add 10-12 new machines. The first digital media course will be held in the Fall semester--Intro to Digital Media. Think about the fall projects that the students can do. Dreamweaver will be offered with some changes. Apple will provide training to MIS as part of the equipment purchase. At the Digital Media Advisory Meeting, representatives from USC, CSU and the high schools were in attendance. An interesting comment was shared about students from community colleges coming out good in skills but lacking in the art concept.

Special Project: Dr. Baker has asked Bob to develop a Gavilan walk thru CD-Rom to give to students. Jane has video clips from the Health Fair, Transition Fair, etc. to share and has also volunteered to help Bob with this project. Joy and Fran have also volunteered. We will start this project sometime this summer. Contact Bob if you are interested in helping or have any information to include.

Featured Presentation: Bob Beede demonstrated the new MacIntosh G4 video editing station.

Bob Beede outdid himself with the snack. Thanks Bob!

Fran, we'll miss you as Technology Chair.
