1. Minutes were approved with no changes.
2. May 27th is a holiday so the meeting will be changed to Thursday, May 30th at 2pm in Business 109.
3. Committee Chairship: Chairperson-Jane Edberg has volunteered to do the chairpersonship; however, she would like release time. Tim will be leaving as of August, 2002. Due to economic reductions, release time for the chair position will not be available next year. The committee continues to stress the importance of having a technology committee chair with reassigned time. In addition, our Distance Eucation coordinator will be gone for a year and she will only be replaced by 10 hours a week. Fran & Tim will discuss these issues with administration and report back to the committee next meeting.
4. Multimedia Classrooms (May 3rd Meeting Report): Fran distributed a handout (See Fran Lozano for copy). Various training is needed to utilize the smart classroom equipment. It was discussed that troubleshooting instructions should be posted in SS 205. Discussion followed about not allowing faculty members to utilize the equipment unless they have been trained. It was suggested that adjunct faculty should be trained on the equipment. It was suggested during scheduling classrooms, a system should be set up so trained faculty members could request a smart classroom by notifying their department chair and deans ahead of time.
5. Digital Media Report: Bob Beede reported on the status of the Digital Media Program. Three certificate programs will be ready by the fall semester. He is busy buying equipment. The idea is to share labs with Bob Peacock but no decisions have been made about where that lab will be.
