UPDATES

Tech Plan: The TAC committee is meeting once a week on a draft to distribute to the Tech Committee for their review. There are currently two classes of objectives. We will be meeting December 12 and December 19 from 3-4 in the SRC. We will be meeting January 14 and January 21st from 9-1pm in the SRC. Everyone is welcome.

Multimedia Classrooms: The Multimedia Task Force met and prioritized the list of recommendations for Title V technology funding. We need to give our final recommendations to Margery and the Title V committee. Other issues have come up regarding our list. Discussion followed the first draft of the proposed priority list. Fran explained that we have been defining Smart Classrooms by its multimedia capabilities. Larry explained that the Title V definition of Smart Classrooms is more toward access to the Internet, computer classrooms and digital media issues. With this in mind, the priority list changed by adding 20 new computers in the library as the first item. The rest of the items included: SS 214, Morgan Hill labs, Art 103 (replace projector only), Hollister, TH 125, PH 103, LS 104, CH 109, TH 127 (portable projector-due to security issues) and laptops.

An important issue was raised about rearranging the schedule for faculty who want to utilize the Smart Classrooms.

Online vs. Phone Registration: Concerns were raised regarding the need for telephone registration. Mimi said the software is already in place and the equipment has already been purchased. The telephone registration is planned for Fall 2003 and web registration is planned for 2004.

CMAP request: CMP is dictating that programming needs to be mini DV. All VHS tapes need to be submitted as DV. Kay asked where we can do this on campus. It was suggested that the Gavilan channel have its own equipment to complete this process--mini DV camera and a deck to transfer VHS to DV. Several members stated that they have this equipment already. There is currently no budget and the TV committee is trying to get an account with the foundation to support the channel.

Sabbatical Proposal: Andrea Uram would like feedback on her sabbical request. Please email her your comments.

Adjournment--Next Meeting: January 28, 2003, 2-3:00p.m.

Spring Snack Schedule:
January 28-Bob B.
