Si, Se Puede! Learning Center

Mission:

To offer youth, teens, families, and seniors the opportunity to empower themselves to learn, achieve, and grow. We are committed to providing quality programs that emphasize education, leadership and life skills throughout every Cesar Chavez Foundation (CCF) affordable housing property. Specifically, the Sí, Se Puede Learning Center at the Gilroy Apartments in Gilroy and Hollister seek to give K-5th grade students living on the CCF property the opportunity to empower themselves and achieve success in school, home, and their community.

Activities:

Sí, Se Puede Learning Center: The Cesar Chavez Foundation provides an after school program to youth in grades K-5th. Se Puede! Learning Center volunteers would need to devote a minimum of two hours per week to be the most effective.

Needs/Projects this year

  • Homework Assistance: Monday-Thursday, the centers in both Gilroy and Hollister provide one hour of homework assistance to enrolled students who live on the affordable housing property. The majority of our students are or were English Language Learners who are in current need of language arts and math grade improvement. Volunteers would assist the fifteen K-5th grade students to better understand their homework assignments, complete all assignments correctly, and ultimately advance grade levels.
  • Learning Activities: These additional activities may focus on homework,, literacy, and Self-Organized Learning Environment curriculum. We will be promoting a healthy lifestyle for the students as well as getting them in touch with their artistic side.
