Minutes of August 25 STG meeting--with apologies for lateness, especially to Terrence. Note blue tasks!
Next meeting: Monday, Sept. 9, 2 p.m. HU 101Present: Leah, Terrence, Vero, Karen, Leslie, Marla, Marty, Susanne.We took a moment to enjoy having domestic partners benefits at Gavilan before the statewide bill passed.Bylaws and STG status: We will not seek to become an official college body in the wake of discussion at College Council about the value of the STG as it is now. We understand, however, that Steve is willing to make a blanket statement to staff, especially classified staff, that STG qualifies for supervisor-time off as do more formal campus groups. Terrence will ask Steve to do this. Terrence will also make a special invitation to Monica; Karen will re-approach Robert Rinck, Suzanne will as EOPS folks, Leslie will talk to Kathy,and Leah will talk to Sofia, as our classified representation is very low.

Club Day: We set up a STG table for Club Day, Aug. 27. Vero set it up, various people tabled, Leslie took it down. Monica and Terrence will keep the stuff in their offices. Leslie will try to get a display board for photos. Terrence was to try to get a TV set-up from Ed Loeser for a video of Terrence Roberts.
Fall events: Leslie will ask John B. about some event to mark the 9/11 second anniversary. Hispanic Heritage month is proceeding with plans for voter reg activity, a forum in M. Turetzky's class on Prop. 54, a mercado, and various cultural events. The ASB is taking the lead. Vero and Leah are helping with the Prop. 54 panel. The Health Faire will happen w/o Unity Day this year; Alice is asking STG to table; Leslie will follow up with her. Leah and Leslie will talk soon about Who Do You Love Day, October 10. Vero will work on getting checklist to next meeting.Discussion of hate crime policy. Steve would like changes. Marty will ask Steve what are his specific objections; Susanne will work with Marty to get a meeting together if that is necessary. Leslie knows students who might be appropriate. Leah will get materials to Susanne and to the Sept. 8 meeting.Conflict Resolution. Leah explained the consortium's work and goals.
