March 24, 2003 Minutes

Next meeting:  April 7. Contact Susanne with agenda items. Alice D.-R. will facilitate.

Please look for tasks highlighted in blue.

Women's History Month--there was discussion of last-minute details re: flowers and plans for the women's recognition ceremony on March 25.

Hate Crimes Policy--the Admin Cabinet is educating itself on this issue, and has asked Security for an analysis of gaps in current policy. Marty felt the group could be helpful in researching policies at other campuses and getting information to the Cabinet. Leah volunteered to research. At some point also we will meet with Steve and others interested to discuss next steps.

Bike to Work Day--Terrence is looking for food donations, and has found that Morgan Hill and San Benito county are also doing Bike to Work events.

Bylaws--Terrence incorporated the various roles discussed at the March 10 meeting into the bylaws, and a draft should be on the web soon, thanks to Jen Ferro.
Please look it over. Rather than requiring a quorum  with representation from each of the five campus groups, it was suggested that if three of the five groups are represented at a given meeting, business can go forward and attempts to include the absent groups in future meetings might be wise.

Domestic Partners benefits--Audren brought some samples from other colleges, and it was agreed to continue working on this at Gavilan.

Leslie announced the Hartnell Diversity Conference this year April 30-May 1; it's just $10 and Terrence Roberts is the keynote speaker.
