Cupertino, CA- On the road for one last time before the home opener, the Gavilan College women’s volleyball got all they could handle in a 5 set victory at De Anza College, 25-22, 26-24, 26-24, 25-16, 17-15. With this win the Rams are now 9-5 on the season. As in any other game the past two years, Sabina Gerard led the way with 38 assists, 11 digs, and 2 kills.  The offense which has been running smoothly as of late, found the road a little bumpy finishing with 27 hitting errors. Despite that Tazi Apple and Savanna Hartman were able to come through when it mattered finishing with 16 and 12 kills.  From behind the service line the Rams were led by the previously mentioned Gerard (3 aces), Brittani Siaz (3 aces), Daisy Valladares (2 aces) and Karina Daniels (2 aces). Defensively middles Jessica Stofer and Andreinna Castaneda finish with 4.5 block a piece, both with 3 solo and 3 assists. Daniels led the back row with 37 digs, followed by Raelynn Heredia (16 digs), and Siaz (14 digs).

The Rams now get ready to have their home opener on Friday night verses Monterey Peninsula College. This is the latest the Rams have ever had to wait before taking playing a match on Bill Christopher Court. The last time the volleyball team played at home was the epic first round playoff victory against Taft College where the Rams came out on top in 5 thrilling sets. First serve on Friday night is schedule for 6:30 p.m.
