Santa Rosa, CA-The Gavilan College Volleyball found out this past Friday that playing on the road can be very unkind. A week after going 2-1on the road, the Rams once again on the road, found themselves dropping two matches to Feather River College and host school Santa Rosa Junior College.

The Ram’s lost their first match of the day to Feather River in four close sets 23-25, 23-25, 25-28, 22-25. Despite the closeness of the scores, the stat book tells another story. The Ram’s combined to hit .051, ending up with only seven more kills than errors for the match, combine that with 7 serving errors. Sabina Gerard continued serving up assists with 34 to go along with 5 kills and 12 digs. Jessica Stofer led the way offensively with 12 kills hitting at a .240 percentage. Defensively Daisy Valladares had another strong performance on the defensive side with 20 digs.

In the final match of the day, once again the Rams found themselves in a close match ultimately losing in 5 sets, 25-16, 20-25, 25-14, 23-25, 7-15.  The Rams only had one hitter in double digit kills, Tazi Apple led the way with 20 kills with Savanna Hartman being the next highest 8 kills. Gerard managed to hand out 39 assists 18 digs.  Karina Daniels led the way with 25 digs, followed by Valladares with 16 digs.

The schedule does not get any easier for the Rams with 6 matches to be played this week. They hit the road for two on Wednesday, going up against Shasta College 12:00 p.m. and host Napa Valley College 2:00 p.m. Then it is on to the very difficult Delta College Tournament for two games on Friday and two more on Saturday.
