Gavilan College – After dropping a pair of game earlier in the week to Skyline College and West Valley College, the Rams baseball team puts 30 runs on the board to defeat City College of San Francisco 30-23.

The Rams scored in all eight innings that they batted, scoring more than 1 run in every inning but the third. In the seventh, the Rams scored 7 runs only to give up 8 in the wild shoot out that took place Saturday afternoon. The Rams of San Francisco used 9 different pitchers, while the Gavilan Rams used 5. Gavilan out hit CCSF 24 to 23.

While Rob Najar 4 for 5 with 6 RBI’s and 5 runs scored and Eddie Dimas 5 for 6 with 3 RBI’s 5 runs and 4 stolen bases would typically get the accolades of having a career day at the plate, that honor goes to JoJo Aguilera. The designated hitter when 5 for 6 scoring 5 times, walking once while driving in 11 RBI’s with one of those coming from his homerun that he hit in the bottom of the third. The one solo run scored in an inning that was previously mentioned.  Seven different Rams had at least two hits or more with seven Rams also driving in two runs or more.

The five Rams that took the mound gave up a combined 16 earned runs of 23 hits, striking out 7 while walking 6. There were 10 errors given to Gavilan which contributed to the 7 unearned runs. The game which took 4 and a half hours to complete give Gavilan their third win of the year. Two previously schedule games against CCSF were declared no-contest after an on-field incident a week ago left the visiting Rams without any eligible players to take the field. It has yet to be announced if those game will be made up. The Gavilan Rams will begin conference play in the week ahead. Up first is 3-day 3-game series with Cabrillo College. Tuesday’s and Saturday’s game will take place at Gavilan, while Thursday’s game will be played in Aptos. The first two games have a start time of 2 p.m., while the finale on Saturday is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch. Go Rams!
