The Gavilan College Baseball team got their first win of the season on the second day of competition by a score of 5-2 over the College of the Siskiyous in a 7-inning game called due to darkness.

The Rams got on the board early in the bottom of the first with perfect situational execution. After being walked, Eddie Dimas stole second base. Then was moved over to third as Dominic Felice grounded out to second base. And after a wild pitch Dimas sprinted to home and the Rams were up 1-0.

In the top of the third the Eagles scored their first run of the game, only to be answered back in the bottom of the inning. Once again it was Dimas on first, who advanced to third after a Felice double. The Robert Najar hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Dimas.

After giving up three hits and a run in the top of the fourth, the Rams once again struck back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. It was a triple by Noah Ackman, that had Gavilan threatening to take back the lead. Nate Aguayo put the Rams up by two runs when he took the Siskiyous pitcher deep over the fence for a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the sixth, Aguayo once again drove home Ackman as he hit a sacrifice fly to center field.

The game was called in the seventh inning due to a lack of light as the sun began to set over the surrounding hill side.

Matt Roth got the start going 2 and 2/3 of an inning giving up 1 run with 2 strikeouts. Josh Holtzclaw came into the game for 2 1/3, scattering 6 hits around while only giving up 1 run with 3 strikeouts. Jacob Spence came in to finish the game throwing only 1 inning walking 1 batter while striking out 3.

The Rams are now 1-2 on the season after losing the first two games of the series with Siskiyous. Game one they lost 11-4 and narrowly lost on in the first game of the double header played on Saturday 7-6.

The week ahead will have a home game on Thursday sandwiched in between two road games on Tuesday and Saturday. They will take on last years Coast Golden Gate Division champion, College of San Mateo on Tuesday. Then host Reedley before heading off to Merced.
