Coalinga, CA – Behind a strong starting pitching performance by Matt Peters, and a solid day at the plate for the offense, the Rams baseball team came away with a 10-7 road win over West Hills College Coalinga.

The Rams scoring started in the 2nd inning, when Cooper Ahola hit a two RBI line drive single to center field scoring Nate Aguayo and Noah Ackman. Ackman was hit by a pitch to start the rally, while Aguayo bunted his way on base as he tried to move over Ackman. In the 3rd Aguayo drove in Robert Najar when he hit into a fielder’s choice.

After the Falcons scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the 4th, the Rams responded with a 3 spot in the top half of the 5th. After Aguayo scored on a passed ball, after being hit by a pitch to get on base, Eddie Dimas drove a pitch to left field scoring Nate Davis and Ahola. The Rams had a commanding 6-1 lead after 4 and a half.

The Falcons rallied late scoring three runs, one in the bottom of the 5th and 2 in the bottom of the 7th. With the score 6-4, Gavilan was looking for some much-needed insurance runs. This time it was Najar who double to left scoring Dimas and Anthony DiVittorio. Both runners were hit by a pitch to get onto base. Jacob Spencer then hit a line drive double to right field bringing in Najar and the Rams were quickly up 9-4. Gavilan’s final run came on a Dominic Felice sacrifice fly to center field which brought in Ahola.
