Gavilan, CA – On May 21, 2019, Bobby Reggiani was named the head coach of the Gavilan College softball team. The announcement came from Dean of Kinesiology & Athletics, Ron Hannon.

Reggiani is a Gilroy native, graduate of Gilroy High School and former baseball player for Gavilan College. He has spent the last two seasons as the associate head coach at Gavilan College.

“I’m very excited to be able to run this program.  I’ve spent a lot of time here at Gavilan as a student and as an assistant coach and now I feel very humbled to be in this position to give back to the kids in this community as a head coach.”

Hannon stated, “I’m excited for our student-athletes as we turn the page on a new chapter to Gavilan College softball.  Bobby is no stranger to Gavilan College, our community we serve, and the sport of softball.  He will make an immediate impact on our program.”

After he finished his two years playing for Gavilan, Reggiani continued his playing career roaming the outfield at Sonoma State University. He then spent 9 seasons coaching baseball at Gavilan College under current head coach Neal Andrade. Coach made the switch to softball when his step daughter picked up the sport, and has spent the last 11 years coaching travel ball. During his time as a travel ball coach he has coached for the Spirit of Morgan Hill, and currently runs the Gavilan Buzz travel team.  The impact of the hire will be felt immediately as many of his travel ball players will make up a huge chunk of his first recruiting class for the 2020 season.

When asked about this upcoming season he said, “My goals are to keep this program on the rise as well as keeping all the local talent here in the community. With the women we have committed, and the returners coming back, I am looking forward to a successful season. I truly believe the future looks bright here at Gavilan College.”
