4 Rams Get Awarded

Gavilan, CA – Gavilan College Baseball is proud to announce that four Rams have been awarded All-Conference honors by the coaches of the Coast Conference Pacific Division at the end of the year coaches meeting. Two were named to the 1st team, while the other two were named honorable mention.

Named to the 1st team were Jake Baker and Rob Najar.  Baker is a freshman Administrator of Justice major from Mountain View who attended St. Francis High School. The outfielder hit .352 with an on base percentage of .466 this year while driving in 29 RBI’s, scoring 24 runs and finishing with 3 stolen bases. With the glove, he had 112 put outs, with 5 assists and a fielding percentage of .951.

Najar is also a freshman majoring in Administration of Justice who hails from San Jose, graduating from Lincoln High School. The catcher hit .299 with 2 home runs, driving in 15 RBI’s while scoring 22 times. He had a slugging percentage of .468 overall and .548 in conference play. Behind the plate he had 20 assists, while throwing out 12 runners attempting to steal a base. Najar only allowed 5 passed balls all year and finished with a .952 fielding percentage.

Chris Molina comes to Gavilan from Wilcox High School. The Santa Clara native is a freshman Liberal Arts, Multiple Subjects major who spent the season at 1st base. Named as an Honorable Mentioned, he hit .333 hitting 1 home run, driving in 12 RBI’s while scoring 16 runs. Molina was consistent all year with the leather as he had a fielding percentage of .970, with 15 assists taking part in 13 double plays.

The final Ram to be named Honorable Mention is Ben Prentiss. The 6’2 freshman is a Kinesiology major from Lodi, who attended Lodi High School. Prentiss had a great season at the plate leading the team with a .387 batting average. Playing in 34 games which is also a team high, he had 2 home runs, 23 RBI’s, to go with 20 runs scored, 9 stolen bases and had an on base percentage of .475. Prentiss had 6 assists from the outfield, while recording 114 put outs which led to a fielding percentage of .992.
