Gavilan, CA – Behind sophomores DJ Burgess' 18 points and Ibn Zaid’s 17, the Gavilan Rams men's basketball team took care of business last night as they came away with a 92-58 win over the Jaguars of San Jose City College.

After jumping out to a double digit lead throughout most of the first half, the Jaguars were able to wither it down to just a single digit lead in the final minutes of the half before a pair of baskets by the Rams sent them into the locker room at half with an 11 point lead. But the game was quickly put out of reach as the Rams would outscore their opponent by 23 points in the 2nd half.

Also contributing offensively for the Rams was Xander Bowers who had a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, which was a team high, to go with 4 blocks and 2 steals. Bowers wasn't the only Ram with a double double, as Daylon Potts finished the night with 12 points and 10 rebounds to also go with his 4 blocks and 4 assists. Curtis McCoy also chipped in with 12 points.

The #6th team in the state in the latest CCCMBCA Poll, improved their record to 20-2 and 6-0 in conference play. There are only two other teams that have 20 wins or more in the state and they currently sit at #1 and #3 in the latest poll. The Rams will be back in action on Friday night as they take on Hartnell College in Salinas. Tip-off will take place shortly after the conclusion of the women’s game which will start at 5 p.m. Go Rams!
