Gavilan College – This past season was a rebuilding season for the Gavilan College women’s basketball team. The team had a roster that was made up of seven freshmen, of which all saw major playing time throughout the season. However, amongst the youth movement on the team there were three sophomores who lead the way, showing the fresh faces how to cope with playing basketball at the next level.  One of those sophomores was singled out by the coaches of the Coast Conference South Division and named 1st team All-Coast Conference- Jessica Curto.

The 5’9 sophomore liberal arts multiple subject major from Hollister and former Haybaler, played in 20 of the teams 22 games, starting in 19 of them. Curto averaged 9.4 points per game, which was good for second place on the team. She shot 68% from the field, while pulling in 6.8 rebounds per game which lead the team. The undersized center was often tasked with the defensive assignment of guarding the oppositions tallest player.

Curto’s season was highlighted by scoring in double digits in 9 games. Against Ohlone College she scored a career high 23 points, hitting on 10 of her 18 shots. Three weeks later against the same team she would drop in 22 points her second highest scoring game as a Ram. She is on track to graduate later this year and continues to narrow down her options on continuing her playing career at the four-year level.
