The Hits Keep Coming

Gavilan, CA – The Gavilan College volleyball team was firing on all cylinders last night as they took on their conference rival, the Owls of Foothill College.  Ranked 2nd in the state, the Rams came out swinging hitting over .400 in the first set on their way to a straight set 25-16, 25-19, 25-19 win.

Teresa Ochoa was red hot early as she had 7 of her 10 kills in the first set. It was Charlotte Cannizzaro who led the team with 134 kills and Camille Finley chipped in with 8.  Greysen Gilroy handed out 21 assists while Kieley Hoskins and Melissa Zanotto also had 12 and 9 assists. Mikeila Banda continued her outstanding play as the team’s libero with 18 digs with Finley controlling the net with a team high 4 blocks.

The Rams improve their record to 19-1 and 4-0 in conference play. They currently are tied for first place in the Coast Conference South Division with the team they will take on Friday night, Ohlone College. The Renegades are 16-4 and 3-0 in conference play and are currently ranked 25th in the state. Friday’s night match will take place up in Fremont with first serve scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Go Rams!
