Another Rams Sweep

Fremont, CA – Behind the hitting performances of sophomore Lex Chavarria and freshman Teresa Ochoa who combined for 15 kills, as the No. 2 Gavilan College volleyball team traveled to Fremont to take on the No. 25th ranked Ohlone College Renegades and came away with a sweep winning the match 25-20, 25-18, 25-12.

The Rams are now 20-1 and 5-0 in conference play. This is the earliest the program has ever reached the 20 win mark in a season having achieved that mark twice before, once in 2016 and again in 2013. Gavilan which has now won seven straight matches hit .245 as a team while holding Ohlone to a hitting percentage of just .010.

Chavarria led the Rams with 8 kills, while Ochoa had 7. Also contributing were Evelyn Clonts and Camille Finley who had six each. Finley ended the night with 4 blocks while Clonts had 3. Kieley Hoskins had 18 assists on the night with Greysen Gilroy distributing 13 of her own. Mikeila Banda had 16 digs followed by Hoskins with 12 and Ochoa with 10. For Hoskins it was her sixth double double, while for Ochoa it was her fourth of the year.

The Rams have only one match this week and they look to finish the first half of Coast Conference play with a match against Las Positas College in Livermore on Wednesday night. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Go Rams!
