Much Needed Win

Fremont, CA –  After dropping two straight matches to two of the better team in conference, the Rams had their eyes on a win as they took on Ohlone College on Friday night up in Fremont. With three straight goals in the first half, a much needed win is what they got as they would go on to win the match by a score of 3-2.

Cruz Garcia got the Rams off to a good start in the 11th minute of the match when his shot found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Then it was Rodolfo Rivera's time to shine as he would score two straight goals for the Rams. His first came in the 20th minute. Then seven minutes later he scored his second goal of the match, his fifth of the season. Both of Rivera's goals came unassisted as was Garcia's.

The Rams gave up a goal just before halftime in the 42nd minute. Then for much of the of the second half the score remained 3-1 until Ohlone put in their final goal of the match in the 82nd minute.

With the win, Gavilan is now 7-8-1 overall and 3-6-1 in conference play. With win number 7, the Rams have the most wins of any team since the 2012 team which finished with 12 wins which was the last team to qualify for the CCCAA NorCal Regional Playoffs. This week, the Rams will play both of their matches on the road. First they will take on Canada College on Tuesday at 3 p.m., before heading to Los Altos Hills to take on Foothill College on Friday at 4 p.m. Go Rams!
