Tough Loss on the Road

Aptos, CA – Freshman quarterback Jimmy Brechtel had his best game as a Ram, while wide receiver Corey Garcia continues his strong season in a 40-17 loss to Cabrillo College this past Saturday afternoon.

The Rams had 302 yards of total offense on the day. As mentioned before Brechtel had his best passing day on the year as he completed 14 of his 33 passes for 257 yards with 2 touchdowns and one interception. John Bell also went 4-8 for 27 yards. Combined the two quarterbacks completed passes to five different Rams receivers. Garcia led the way with 8 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown, his day was highlighted by a 62-yard touchdown pass from Brechtel. Andrew Richelle had 5 catches for 48 yards, while Jawaun hardy and 2 catches for 40 yards including a 16-yard touchdown. Garcia was also hit a field goal from 20 yards out in the 2nd quarter.

Cecil Murphy continued his all-around great play as he and Donny Torres led the team with 9 tackles apiece. Torres had a sack and 4 tackles for a loss. Both Cameron Castro and Noah Munoz are the only other Rams to record a sack. Murphy not only had his tackles, but had one of the two interceptions for Gavilan (Nathan Aguayo had the other), is the team kicker on kick-offs, kicked in an extra point, caught 2 receptions for 39 yards and had two rushing attempts.

The Rams will be back in action in two weeks, on Saturday November 3rd where they will host the 1-6, 0-4 Jaguars of San Jose City College at 2 p.m. at the Garcia Elder Sports Complex at Gilroy high. Then they will close out the year on the road against Merced College the following weekend. Go Rams!


With two games remaining, Corey Garcia needs only 144 yards for a total of 1,000 receiving yards.
