200 Wins and Counting

Gavilan, CA – Last Friday night, the sophomores of the volleyball team, who were playing in the last regular season home game of their careers were honored in a ceremony before the game. During that same ceremony in a surprise, the college presented a trophy to head coach Kevin Kramer for winning his 200th match as coach of the Rams volleyball program.

Dean & Athletic Director for the Department of Kinesiology, Athletics, and Health Sciences Ron Hannon announced this feat over the p.a. system before joining Superintendent and College President Dr. Kathleen Rose as she presented Coach Kramer with a trophy, they had made up to memorialize the achievement which took place earlier in the season. In fact, the 200th win came in a four-set win against Folsom Lake College on September 29th.

Kramer’s career at Gavilan started in 2007 when he took over for a program that had won a total of eight games in the previous two seasons which were the first two seasons of existence for the program after being dissolved in 1994. In his tenure at Gavilan, Coach Kramer has a record of 211-99, has won 6 Coast Conference Championships and has qualified for the playoffs 10 straight seasons. Prior to coming to Gavilan, Kramer spent two seasons as the head coach of Canada College. In those two seasons he had a record of 30-9, his career coaching record currently sits at 241 wins and 108 losses.

Coach Kramer and the rest of his Rams will look to be back in action on Tuesday November 20th as they host a yet to be determined opponent in the first round of the CCCAA Nor-Cal Regional Playoffs. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Bill Christopher Court inside the Bud and Jean Ottmar Memorial Gymnasium.
