Salinas, CA – The Gavilan College Baseball team in the second game of a double header, got their first victory of the season in a 11-10 win against College of the Siskiyous.

Playing at Hartnell College as the home team while their field is still being upgraded, the Rams' Brock Bueno doubled in the 1st which brought in Justin Nelson. Two batters later, a single by Al Ferroni brought in Bueno to give Gavilan a quick 2-0 lead.  Tommy Hernandez got the start and threw scoreless innings until, the Eagles rallied in the 4th.  Siskiyous put up 5 in that inning and added another 3 runs in the 5th to give the visitors a 8-2 lead which wouldn't last long.

In the bottom of the 5th, a combination of 7 RBI scoring singles and a ground out would give the Rams a 10-8 lead. Adrian Rivera then threw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless ball while recording one strikeout and one walk.

Alex Rose got on base after being hit by a pitch in the bottom half of the 7th. Following a sacrifice by Matt Roth to put Rose on second, a Nate Alejo single would score Gavilan's last run of the game.

Then came in Cameron Gilroy who had a three up and three down 8th, with one strikeout. The Rams left two on base in the bottom of the eight, as Gilroy would look to close out the win in the ninth. Very quickly Siskiyous would single, followed by an error and a pass ball and now the lead was down to two runs.  With a runner on second base, Gilroy would record the second out of the inning by striking out the next batter. To keep things interesting, the Eagles would go on to double in the runner and appeared to have the momentum on their side. Yet Gilroy would have none of that, striking out the final batter of the game to insure the Rams a split on the day and to get their first win of the season.
