Pittsburg, CA – The Rams went into the season opener against Los Medanos College knowing they could compete with if not defeat the host team. Compete is exactly what they did throughout the game. However, it was untimely miscues that ultimately lead to a 22-7 defeat.

The defense had a solid outing holding Los Medanos to 223 total yards of offense, 150 in the air and only 73 on the ground as they forced five turnovers. Sophomore Cecil Murphy (Andrews HS) had a force fumble and a pair of picks, while Alec Calderon (Santa Teresa) also had a forced a fumble that was recovered by the Rams defense. Cameron Castro (Pacheco HS) led the team with 13 tackles followed by Calderon and Nathan Aguayo (Santa Teresa HS) who both had 8.

Offensive, the Rams only had 107 total yards on offense. Quarterback John Bell (Sobrato HS) completed 14 of his 30 attempts for 119 yards. Freshman Jawaun Hardy (Miramar HS) had 7 receptions for 79 yards, with Corey Garcia finishing with 5 catches.

The Rams will look to get on track in their home opener as they take on College of the Redwoods at the Garcia Elder Sports Complex at Gilroy high school. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Go Rams!
