San Jose, CA- The Rams came out of the gates swinging amassing 12 kills with 0 hitting errors as they opened up Coast Conference play with a three-set sweep of San Jose City College, winning the match 25-17, 25-10, 25-16 last night.

Sarah Clonts HittingHitting over .462, their highest percentage in any set this year, quickly put the Rams in charge of the match. However, a cold start from behind the serving line with 6 serving errors kept the Jaguars close. With the score 15-12, a kill from Haley Leifheit would ignite a 10-5 run that would give the set and the control of the rest of the match to the Rams.

Leifheit’s 7 kills, and Jenna Clonts’ 5 kills led the team offensively. But it was a well-rounded offensive attack as every Ram on the roster minus the setters, would go on to record at least 1 kill. For the match the Rams hit .319. Christa Arroyo led with 16 assists with Greysen Gilroy giving out 6 in her two sets played. With the offense firing off in all directions, there wasn’t much for the defense to do. Four Rams had team high of 4 digs, while Serena Chandler had 2 blocks.

The Rams now improve their record to 11-3 and 1-0 in Coast Conference play. Friday night, they will hit the road to take on Ohlone College up in Fremont. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
