The Gavilan College Women's Basketball team won their season opener by a score of 68-52 over the visiting Dons of De Anza College. The Ram’s set the tone early with a 17-8 first quarter and ending the half 36-20. The Dons came out firing in the third quarter to close the gap to nine.

It was a full team effort with four players in double figures. The Rams were led offensively by  freshman Jessica Curto (San Benito H.S.) who led all starters with 14 points followed by Maddy Cox (Gilroy H.S.) who had a double double with  11 points and 11 rebounds and Donatella Macleod (Monte Vista Christian H.S.) with 10 points. Another Ram, Cecilia Vasquez finished with a double double coming off the bench with 10 points and 10 rebounds. All eight of the Rams contributed to the game with every player recording a point, rebound and assists. Gavilan shot 31.8% from the field and 27.8% from behind the three point line.

Gavilan evens up their record for the year at 1-1. Up Next for the Rams is a road game next Tuesday night against Reedley College.
