Gilroy, CA- It may have taken a while to get going, but the Gavilan Rams found their rhythm last night in a three-set victory over Cañada College 25-18, 25-21, and 25-10.

The team missing a few key players due to injury seemed to be a bit off kilter early on in the match despite being in control of the match from start to finish. As the match progressed so did the Rams’ offense.  As a team they hit .191 in the first set, .205 in the second and a blistering .480 in the third and final set. It was the Katia Dizon show has she had a double double to led the team with 11 kills and 17 digs. Haley Leifheit’s 8 kills and Jenna Clonts’ 7 kills helped setter Greysen Gilroy finish with a team high 18 assists. Libero Mikeila Banda finished with 12 digs, while Evelyn Clonts and Camille Finley continued their season long block party with 4 and 3 blocks apiece. Evelyn Clonts is only three blocks away from breaking the record for most blocks in a single season set in 2013 by Andreinna Castaneda.

The Rams improve their record to 17-7 and 7-2 in conference play. They will host Foothill College on Tuesday night. Gavilan will honor their 5 sophomores in the regular season finale. Also on the line is the Coast Conference championship. A win and the Rams will finish tied for first holding the tie breaker over De Anza College and be named back to back conference champs. A feat only achieved once in the history of Gavilan College volleyball.  A loss and the Rams could find themselves in third place due to being on the wrong side of a tie breaker with Foothill College. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
