Sherrean Carr appointed as interim Vice President for Instruction and Student Services at Gavilan College

At their May meeting, the Gavilan College Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Sherrean Carr to the interim position of Vice President of Instruction and Student Services for the period August 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005.

"Sherrean has extensive administrative experience in the two key areas of Student Services and Instructional Services," said President Steve Kinsella in a message to the college, "Please join me in wishing her the best in her new assignment."

She is filling a vacancy created by the retirements of Gavilan College Vice Presidents John Baker and Martin Johnson. The college had already been planning to temporarily combine the two positions as a cost saving measure.

Sherrean Carr has been with Gavilan College since 1985. Prior to her most recent role as Dean of Technical and Public Services, she served in numerous capacities at Gavilan College including Strategic Planning Coordinator/Educational Master Plan Facilitator, Coordinator of Disabled Students Programs and Services, Instructor, Learning Disabilities Specialist, and Speech Language Pathologist. She currently represents Gavilan College on the Silicon Valley Manufacuting Group Education Committee, The San Benito County Workforce Investment Board, the Regional Occupation Program (ROP) Committee, and other committees and task forces. A Gilroy resident, Sherrean Carr holds an M.A. from San Jose State University and a B.A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

An internal candidate will be selected to fill the position of Dean of Technical and Public Services on an interim basis.
