At a special meeting of the Gavilan College Board of Trustees on April 17, 2012 the board voted unanimously to appoint Jonathan Brusco, of Morgan Hill, to fill the vacancy left by the death of Mike Davenport. He will be sworn in at the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees on May 8, 2012. He will hold office until the next regularly scheduled election for district governing board members, in November 2012.

The appointment shall become effective unless a petition calling for a special election, signed by 1.5% of the registered voters in the district at the time of the last governing board election, is filed in the office of the Superintendent of Schools within 30 days of the provisional appointment.
