GAVILAN COLLEGE, CA -The Board of Trustees of Gavilan College has negotiated a new four-year contract with President / Superintendent Steve Kinsella. The contract was approved in open session at a special meeting of the Board of Trustees on October 26.
The new contract will include a salary increase of $42,000 per year, to be implemented as follows: $21,000 of the first year's salary increase, and $10,500 of the second year's salary increase will be deferred and payable at the end of the contract term. The contract also allows the president to opt out of the district’s health insurance plan (a savings to the district) and provides seven days per year for continuing education.
Dr. Kinsella had been named as a finalist in the search for a new chancellor for the West Valley-Mission Community College District. He has been the Superintendent / President at Gavilan College since October, 2002.
Six trustees: Perry, Breen, Dover, Child, Davenport, and Glines voted in favor of the new contract, and one, Ruiz, was opposed.
