WHO: Youth ages 10 to 16
WHAT: The Gavilan College Summer Theatre Arts Repertory (STAR) Program is now accepting enrollment for Spring STAR 2009, a hands-on acting and TV workshop for youth.
For the past 24 years, the STAR Program has been exposing South Valley youth to the performing arts, helping to boost their confidence and poise, and encouraging teamwork, creativity, collaboration, and respect.
WHY: Participants are introduced to performing arts fundamentals through theatre games, improvisational acting, and movement exercises. Spring STAR participants will learn performance for television, and:
• collaborate to create characters and write skits for a TV variety show,
• design and make their own costumes and masks, and
• receive a free DVD of their final taping in the Gavilan College TV Studio.
The final taping of Spring STAR 2009 will air on GavTV-18, the Gavilan College educational channel, as well as, online on GavTV’s blip.tv channel at http://gavtv.blip.tv.
WHEN: Five Saturday mornings, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, on March 7, 14, 21, 28, with the final taping in the Gavilan College TV Studio on April 4, 2009.
WHERE: Gavilan College Main Campus, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy, CA 95020.
