Gavilan College's Summer Institute for Digital Media

WHO: Individuals of all ages interested in learning digital media. Prospective students should know how to complete basic computer tasks.

WHAT: The Summer Institute for Digital Media allows students to create their own music videos, slides shows, edit home movies, showcase any subject through video story telling, produce their own short films, experiment with 3D animation, compose their own digital soundtracks and develop their own digital media projects.

Students will have access to instructors, tutors and state-of-the-art technology to help their imaginations come to life. Some of the software that will be at the students disposal includes Final Cut Pro, Motion and After Effects, Flash, Photoshop, Logic and Garageband, Dreamweaver, DVD Studio Pro, SoundTrack Pro, iPhoto, iMovie and Maya for 3D Animation. Digital Video camcorders and cameras can be checked out for
project use.


WHEN: Class begins July 9th and goes through August 2nd. Lab hours are Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Students may access the lab on a drop-in basis.


WHERE: Digital Media Studio (Library 128) at the Gavilan College campus, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy.


HOW: Register for DM 108, Digital Media Lab (1 unit). The fee for the one-unit class is $43 for California residents, $226 for non-residents. (Fees include health fee, campus center use fee, student I.D. card and Student Representation fee.)
