Calling all alumni! Gavilan College to host mixer for former students
WHO: Former students and staff of Gavilan College and San Benito Junior College
WHAT: Are invited to attend an Alumni Mixer. The event will give alumni an opportunity to network and socialize, get caught up with events on campus and find out about opportunities to get involved. Past issues of the student newspaper, The Gavilan Rambler, will be on hand as well as other memorabilia and photos. Alumni will have the opportunity to join the Alumni Registry, learn about volunteer opportunities and meet with other alumni who are interested in forming an Alumni Association. Light refreshments will be served. There is no charge to attend.
All alumni who attend will also receive free admission to the two home basketball games in the Gavilan College gymnasium that evening: both women's and men's teams will be competing.
Alumni who are unable to attend may still join the Alumni Registry at www.gavilan.edu/alumni.
WHEN: Friday, January 20, 6 p.m - 8 p.m.
Women's basketball 5: 30 p.m, Gavilan Rams vs. College of San Mateo
Men's basketball 7:30 p.m, Gavilan Rams vs. Hartnell
WHERE: Adaptive Physical Education Building, Gavilan College main campus: 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy
WHY: With the upcoming construction and land acquisitions funded by Measure E, Gavilan College will move into a new era in it's history. This is a good time to connect with the many students who have attended Gavilan College in the past, to help keep them informed about the changes taking place. In addition, many alumni have asked about the possibility of forming an Alumni Association. Since 1919 over 100,000 people in the community have attended Gavilan College (formerly San Benito Junior College.) Gavilan College alumni include many current community leaders, business owners and professionals in many fields.
Alumni will be asked to add their names, current occupations, and educational histories after Gavilan College to the Alumni Registry so that we can learn more about the career and educational trajectories of students once they leave. By staying in touch with alumni, we can provide better information to the public and gain insight from our former students. There are many opportunities for former students to remain involved with the college: as mentors, volunteers, guest speakers and through the Gavilan College Educational Foundation.
