Career Day is April 20


WHO: Students, job-hunters, and anyone who would like to learn more about opportunities in the job market

WHAT: Are invited to attend Career Day at Gavilan College. Exhibitors representing diverse career fields including health care, law enforcement, public service, retail, and the military will be on hand to discuss job and career opportunities. There will also be information about the vocational programs offered at Gavilan College, which include nursing, aviation maintenance, computer science, business, administration of justice, child development, and digital media.

"It's not primarily a job fair, although some employers are hiring. Our goal is to showcase possible careers students might choose to prepare for." said Jan Stewart, coordinator of the Gavilan College Career and Transfer Center.

Attendees seeking employment should bring current resume's to hand out, as some employers are now hiring. There will be door prize drawings for gift certificates and other items. This event is free and open to the public.

WHEN: Wednesday, April 20, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

WHERE: Student Center, Gavilan College main campus, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy, CA

WHY: Career Day is an annual event at which students and the public may explore diverse career fields, and become knowledgeable about the types of training and education that are required to pursue them. The Gavilan College Career and Transfer Center organizes Career Day, as well as providing one-on-one assistance and workshops to students .
