Gavilan College Theatre Arts Program Presents: The First Monday Playreading Series
?No Saco Nada de la Escuela? by Luis Valdez
WHO: The Gavilan College Theater program invites everyone to attend
WHAT: First Monday is a series of play readings, free and open to the public, on the first Monday of every month. ?No Saco Nada de la Escuela? follows six racially diverse students through their educational careers from elementary school to college, depicting racist attitudes and prejudices at the core of the American education system. In three scenes, each a different level of school (elementary, secondary, and college), stereotypes are confronted as the students make decisions that influence both themselves and the people around them.
WHEN: September 13 @ 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: The Gavilan College Theater, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy, CA 95020
WHY: The First Monday Series is a playreading series that has been created to introduce the South Valley Communities to diverse theatrical experiences through the reading and discussion of challenging and socially relevant contemporary materials, presented by professional actors, Gavilan college students, and members of the community.
· The series takes place on the first Monday of each month (except on holidays).
· We invite the submission of new works for consideration to be a part of this series.
· We would also like to encourage playreading suggestions from the community.
